My father is a USMC veteran who served shortly before I was born. Since entering the affordable housing industry, I’ve also worked with VASH certificate-holders—disabled veterans whose housing is being subsidized by HUD. Swords to Plowshares is a nonprofit dedicated to ending veteran homelessness by providing wraparound services.

As a queer woman, I struggled come to terms with my sexuality and identity. This is normal for youth to experience, but we should never have to face additional hardships because of who we love or who we present as. The Rainbow Community Center in Concord, CA provides mental health services, housing support, and more for LGBTQ+ community members.

Larkin Street Youth Services provides housing, employment, education, and wellness to the youth of San Francisco, so that no teen has to continue to face homelessness in a time it runs so rampant. I’ve never had to face homelessness, but I cannot imagine how much scarier it must be as a teenager.

I’m With You

While donating money is always appreciated for these nonprofits, make sure you check out their individual sites to see other ways you can get involved if you don’t have the funds right now. Every year, Keller Williams Realty offices around the globe contribute both labor and money on RED Day, which is the second Thursday in May. For 2026, I volunteered with Hugs for Harry, a dog shelter in Lafayette dedicated to rehoming hard-to-house pups (peep the photo of lovely Rain above).

I would never ask anyone to put their money someplace I wouldn’t. For every dollar donated to any of these organizations through my site, I will match it (up to $50 per donation). Additionally, for every transaction I close, I will donate 5% of my gross commission to whichever listed organization my client chooses.
